HÀ MỘI — Deputy Prime Minister Lê Thành Long signed a dispatch outlining measures to ensure food safety during the Lunar New Year and spring festival 2025.

The dispatch highlights the increased risk of food safety violations and foodborne illnesses due to higher consumption and large crowds during the holiday season.

To address this, the Prime Minister has called on government officials at all levels to take coordinated action to enforce food safety regulations.

The Ministry of Health will ensure rapid response and medical care for food poisoning cases, while the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will guide food producers and processors to follow safety regulations.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will focus on controlling alcohol and beer production and preventing the sale of counterfeit food products.

The Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Defence will work with customs and market management agencies to stop the illegal import of unsafe foods.

The Ministry of Information and Communications will promote public awareness about food safety through media campaigns.

Local authorities are urged to intensify food safety education, discourage unsafe eating habits, and conduct surprise inspections at high-risk establishments.

Special attention will be given to food vendors and food businesses at major festival locations. Violations will result in immediate action, including business closures and the disposal of unsafe products.

Local leaders will be held accountable for any significant food safety issues in their regions. — VNS
