Bắc Giang honours outstanding and creative citizens

The “Outstanding Citizen of Bắc Giang” is the province’s most prestigious award, given to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the region’s development. This year marks the third consecutive time the province has held this event.

BẮC GIANG - The Bắc Giang Provincial People’s Committee recently held a ceremony to recognise the “Outstanding Citizen of Bắc Giang” for 2024. The event was attended by Nguyễn Văn Gấu, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Mai Sơn, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

The “Outstanding Citizen of Bắc Giang” is the province’s most prestigious award, given to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the region’s development. This year marks the third consecutive time the province has held this event.

Nine individuals received the title in 2024. Among them was Tống Văn Tuyên, born in 1981, who serves as Team Leader of the Mechanical Division at Hà Phong Export Garment Joint Stock Company. Three students from Bắc Giang High School for the Gifted during the 2023–2024 academic year, namely Thân Thế Công, Trương Phi Hùng, and Giáp Vũ Sơn Hà, were also honoured. Other recipients included People’s Artist Tạ Quang Lẫm, born in 1969, who is the Director of Bắc Giang Chèo Theatre; Nguyễn Thị Thu Thủy, born in 1998, a wushu athlete from the Bắc Giang Centre for Sports Training and Competition; and Thân Thị Thu Thủy, born in 1973, who is a Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Red Cross Society and Chairwoman of the Red Cross Society in Bắc Giang City.

Additional honourees included Nguyễn Xuân Trường, born in 1982, Deputy Head of the Department of Radiology at Bắc Giang General Hospital, and Lieutenant Nguyễn Duy Hoàng, born in 1995, who serves in the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention within the Bắc Giang Provincial Police.

Acting Chairman Mai Sơn highlighted that under the leadership of the Party and the government, and with the unified efforts of businesses and citizens, Bắc Giang has achieved remarkable progress across all fields. He acknowledged the significant role played by these outstanding citizens, whose creativity and dedication have driven the province’s development.

The nine honourees exemplify the spirit of relentless dedication and creativity. They include students and athletes who have brought recognition to Bắc Giang and Việt Nam on international platforms, workers who have implemented innovative solutions in production and business, a talented artist who has made cultural contributions, and professionals in various fields who have positively impacted their communities.

Their stories are a testament to their resilience, passion for their craft, and unwavering commitment to their homeland. These examples are expected to inspire the younger generation to uphold these values, take responsibility, and contribute more significantly to the development of the province and the country.

During the ceremony, attendees had the opportunity to hear from three of the honourees: People’s Artist Tạ Quang Lẫm, student Trương Phi Hùng, and Thân Thị Thu Thủy.

People’s Artist Tạ Quang Lẫm has made significant contributions to the cultural development of the province. In 2023, he was recognised with the honorary title of People’s Artist by the State. In 2024, he directed the chèo play "Tiếng chuông cảnh tỉnh" (The Warning Bell), which won one gold and two silver medals at the Youth and Children’s Theatre Festival in Hải Phòng.

Student Trương Phi Hùng achieved numerous accolades, including first place in Physics at the National Excellent Student Competition, a bronze medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad, and a gold medal at the International Physics Olympiad in 2024.

Thân Thị Thu Thủy has made remarkable contributions to humanitarian and charitable activities, including blood donation campaigns. She has personally donated blood 77 times and registered to donate her organs posthumously. Her dedication to social and charitable work is exemplary.
