HCM CITY — The Rạch Đĩa Bridge project, which connects District 7 and Nhà Bè, has neared completion.

The bridge is expected to solve severe congestion in the area by the end of this year.

Situated on Lê Văn Lương Street, the project would replace the 50-year-old, three-metre-wide Rạch Điã steel bridge, frequently overwhelmed by traffic.

The project was approved by the HCM City People’s Committee in 2001.

The project’s adjustment was passed in September 2017.

The project costs more than VNĐ512.7 billion (US$20 million), started in June 2023 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2024.

The city Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the project had completed more than 85 per cent of the work volume.

At the construction site, dozens of workers are urgently completing the remaining construction of the bridge.

The bridge will resolve congestion points such as Kênh Tẻ and Phước Long bridges, Nguyễn Hữu Thọ - Nguyễn Văn Linh intersection, and Huỳnh Tấn Phát– Bùi Văn Ba crossroads.

It will also contribute to connecting the city with Long An Province. VNS
