Chinese-directed company fined $90,000 for environmental violations

A seafood processing and export company led by a Chinese national in Cà Mau Province has been fined nearly VNĐ2.2 billion (US$90,000) for environmental violations, including the discharge of untreated waste.

CÀ MAU — A seafood processing and export company led by a Chinese national in Cà Mau Province has been fined nearly VNĐ2.2 billion (US$90,000) for environmental violations, including the discharge of untreated waste.

According to Cà Mau authorities, the Thuận Đức Import-Export Trading Company Limited, located in Cái Nước District, has had its environmental permit suspended for 4.5 months to address these issues and must dismantle illegally installed waste discharge pipes.

The company is awaiting approval from the provincial People’s Committee regarding the payment of the fine.

It is headquartered in Năm Đảm Hamlet, Lương Thế Trân Commune, and specialises in seafood processing and export. — VNS
