HCM CITY — A comprehensive training programme to produce international standard professionals in eight sectors was implemented effectively in the first half of this year in HCM City, according to the southern metro’s Department of Education and Training.

A conference was held on August 13 to review the activities of the city’s Council of Rectors of Universities in the first six months of 2024 and launch tasks for the second.

Speaking at the event, Nguyễn Văn Hiếu, director of the department, said the eight sectors are information and communications technology, mechanical engineering, automation, artificial intelligence, business

administration, finance and banking, healthcare, tourism, and urban management.

Of these, professional training in ICT, artificial intelligence, finance and banking, healthcare and urban management, and shared university model has been completed.

Vice chairwoman of the city People's Committee, Trần Thị Diệu Thúy, was elected standing vice chairwoman of the council.

Phan Văn Mãi, chairman of the city People's Committee and chairman of the council, said the council needs to focus on some key tasks in the remaining months of the year.

Thúy will directly work with the universities to finalise financial and training plans and promptly carry out the approved projects.

Mãi said universities need to submit proposals on solving their problems to the municipal government to create favorable conditions for their development.

Universities need to participate in and provide opinions on the city’s economic and social plans for 2030-45.

Training is continuing in fields of mechanical engineering, automation, artificial intelligence, business

administration, and tourism. — VNS
