HCM City honours 80 artists, artisans with titles

HCM City has conferred the titles of People’s Artist on 25 people, Meritorious Artist on 40 others, People’s Artisans on three, and Meritorious Artisans on 12.

HCM CITY — HCM City has conferred the titles of People’s Artist on 25 people, Meritorious Artist on 40 others, People’s Artisans on three, and Meritorious Artisans on 12.

A ceremony to present them was held on Thursday (March 28) with the attendance of Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee Nguyễn Văn Nên, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Văn Mãi, Chairwoman of the People’s Council Nguyễn Thị Lệ and a number of artists.

Mãi said the city has always honoured artisans and artists who have talent or have made outstanding long-term contributions to Vietnamese culture.

He hoped the artists would actively take part in an art contest to be held to mark the 50th anniversary of the south’s liberation and national reunification (April 30, 2025).

Earlier, on March 6, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony in Hà Nội to award People's Artist and Meritorious Artist titles.
