HCM CITY — The HCM City Public Employees’ Trade Union has launched a programme to offer free áo dài (Vietnamese traditional dress) to disadvantaged workers on the occasion of International Women's Day (March 8).

The programme called “Áo dài yêu thương” (Áo dài of Love) aims to bring joy to many poor and disadvantaged women working in production at companies in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park who now have a chance to own the traditional dress.

It also honours the beauty and value of áo dài, and encourages Vietnamese women to wear áo dài in their daily lives.

The city Public Employees' Trade Union calls on officials, civil servants, and workers, especially women working at grassroots trade union units in administrative units and public non-business units under the city public employees' trade union, to donate their old or unused áo dài, and fabric to make áo dài.

Donated ao dài will be received from February 26 to March 6 at the city Public Employees’ Trade Union Office at No. 32 Trương Định Street in District 3.

The programme was organised for the first time in 2022. Some 1,200 sets of áo dài were donated and 90 percent of them were new. — VNS
