HCM CITY — The Paediatrics Hospital No.1 in HCM City has inaugurated two buildings for its Paediatric Surgery Centre and Neonatal Care Centre.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony on May 27, Assoc. Prof. Nguyễn Thanh Hùng, its director, said the new facilities equipped with modern medical devices would help ease the prolonged patient overload and improve the quality of examination and treatment.

The establishment of specialty centres underscored its role as a tier-one children’s hospital in the south, he said.

The hospital is a nationally recognised leader in training, research, international co-operation, and expertise and technology transfer to other hospitals, and seeks to expand the use of advanced techniques and develop into a Southeast Asian medical hub, according to the director.

The hospital gets 5,000-6,000 outpatients every day and admits 1,500-1,600 others for treatment.

Last year it added a building to house the interventional cardiology centre.

A new building for a Tropical Diseases Centre is under construction, and is expected to be ready by 2026.

Dương Anh Đức, deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee, promised favorable conditions for physicians and staff at the hospital. —VNS
