Only 685 new COVID-19 infections reported on Sunday, lowest in 11 months

HÀ NỘI — Only 685 new COVID-19 infections were reported in Việt Nam on Sunday, the lowest number since July 4 last year.

New infections were detected in Hà Nội (207), Yên Bái (79), Vĩnh Phúc (46), Quảng Ninh (36), Tuyên Quang (31), Thái Nguyên (25), Phú Thọ (22), Quảng Bình (21), Lào Cai (21), Thái Bình (20), Quảng Trị (18), Sơn La (14), Nghệ An (13), Hà Nam (13), TP. Hồ Chí Minh (10), Đà Nẵng (9), Cao Bằng (8 ), Nam Định (8 ), Thanh Hóa (8 ), Lai Châu (8 ), Hưng Yên (7), Hà Tĩnh (7), Thừa Thiên Huế (6), Hà Giang (6), Lạng Sơn (6), Hải Phòng (5), Lâm Đồng (4), Bắc Kạn (4), Điện Biên (4), Hòa Bình (4), Ninh Bình (3), Bình Định (3), Khánh Hòa (3), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (3), Bình Phước (2) and Bình Thuận (1).

All the new infections were domestic. A total of 505 new transmissions were detected in the community.

The latest update brings the national caseload to 10,725,239 so far.

Furthermore, there were zero COVID-related deaths in Việt Nam on Sunday.

The total number of COVID-related fatalities in the country remains at 43,080, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total cases.

A further 8,548 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 9,504,955.

Over 222 million shots of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country to date, of which more than 4.8 million doses have been given to children aged 5 to 11. — VNS
