Hà Nội announces traffic management plan for SEA Games

HÀ NỘI — Police in Hà Nội, which will host the majority of events for the 31st Southeast Asian Games, have issued a plan to manage traffic during the Games.

From May 6 to 23, the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as 25 sports events, will take place in 19 locations across the capital.

The traffic plan covers routes for foreign sports delegations to reach their hotels in Hà Nội’s districts of Nam Từ Liêm, Cầu Giấy, Đống Đa, Ba Đình, Tây Hồ, Hoàn Kiếm, and Hai Ba Trưng.

Sport delegations in Nam Từ Liêm, Cầu Giấy and Đống Đa districts will travel along the roads: Võ Nguyên Giáp, Võ Văn Kiệt, Thăng Long Bridge, Ring Road No 3, Hồ Tùng Mậu, Lê Đức Thọ, Phạm Hùng, Tôn Thất Thuyết, Trần Thái Tông, Duy Tân, Trần Duy Hưng, Nguyễn Chí Thanh, Huỳnh Thúc Kháng and Thái Hà.

Delegations in districts of Ba Đình, Tây Hồ, Hoàn Kiếm and Hai Bà Trưng will use: Võ Nguyên Giáp, Nhật Tân Bridge, Võ Chí Công, Ring Road No 2, Đào Tấn, Kim Mã, Núi Trúc, Giảng Võ, Trần Huy Liệu, Nam Cao, An Dương Vương, Âu Cơ, Xuân Diệu, Từ Hoa, Nghi Tàm, Thanh Niên, Yên Phụ, Trần Nhật Duật, Trần Quang Khải, Tràng Tiền, Ngô Quyền, Lý Thường Kiệt, Phan Chu Trinh, Hùng Vương, Hoàng Văn Thụ, Độc Lập, Điện Biên Phủ, Lê Duẩn, Trần Nhân Tông, Trần Bình Trọng, Trần Hưng Đạo, Quán Sứ, Tràng Thi streets, and dyke road No 401.

There are also planned routes for them to go to competition venues in other northern localities – Hải Dương, Hải Phòng, Quảng Ninh, Hà Nam, and Nam Định – during the biennial tournament.

Officials, delegates and attendants participating in competition events in Hải Dương, Hải Phòng, Quảng Ninh and vice versa will travel along Võ Nguyên Giáp, Trường Sa, Đông Trù, Lý Sơn bridges, the overpass in Long Biên District, the road to Thanh Trì Bridge and the Hà Nội-Hải Phòng Expressway.

Attendants going to Vĩnh Phúc, Thái Nguyên, Phú Thọ provinces, and vice versa, will travel along Võ Nguyên Giáp, Võ Văn Kiệt roads, Highway No 2 and the Hà Nội-Lào Cai expressway.

The routes for delegations going to Hà Nam, Nam Định, Bắc  Ninh and Bắc Giang provinces include Võ Nguyên Giáp, Trường Sa, Lý Sơn, Nguyễn Văn Linh roads, the road to Thanh Trì bridge, Pháp Vân, Hà Nội-Ninh Bình expressway and National Highway 18.

Serving the opening ceremony at the Mỹ Đình National Stadium on May 12, and the closing ceremony at the Indoor Games Gymnasium on May 23 in Hà Nội, the police will conduct traffic management and restrict the movement of trucks from 500kg as well as passenger cars with 16 seats or more on a series of routes around the venues.

Spectators are encouraged to use public transport to reach the 19 locations for games. — VNS
