They were all 11th graders at Bù Đăng High School in Bù Đăng District.
According to initial information from the local authority on Sunday afternoon, a group of 10 children organised a camping trip to Bãi Cạn of Đồng Nai River in Đồng Nai Commune of Bù Đăng District.
When the others were camping, five children separated from the group to go upstream to Hà Đăng Commune for a swim.
While swimming, the five students were dragged into a whirlpool about 5m deep.
