HÀ NỘI — As the Lunar New Year approaches, there were 12,674 new COVID-19 cases discovered on Monday, the lowest daily increase in two months.
The total number of infections now stands at 2,275,727. A further 109 COVID-related deaths were also announced.
The capital city of Hà Nội continued to record the highest number of cases with 2,728, followed by Đà Nẵng with 877 and 781 in Bắc Ninh.

Among the new cases, 37 were imported and the rest were local transmissions. A total of 8,517 new infections were detected in the community.
Việt Nam also recorded 185 Omicron cases so far.

Việt Nam’s COVID-19 death toll is now 37,777, accounting for 1.7 per cent of the total cases.
The Ministry of Health also reported that 3,620 patients nationwide are in critical condition, with 450 requiring invasive ventilation and 19 on life support.
A further 4,835 patients were given the all-clear on Monday, taking the total number of recoveries to 2,022,450.
Nearly 181.3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country so far, with more than 74.1 million people receiving full two doses. — VNS
