13,694 new COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday

The capital city of Hà Nội recorded 2,924 COVID-19 infections on Sunday, as Việt Nam posted a daily rise of 13,694 cases.

HÀ NỘI — The capital city of Hà Nội recorded 2,924 COVID-19 infections on Sunday, as Việt Nam posted a daily rise of 13,694 cases.

Hà Nội again recorded the highest number of daily infections nationwide.

The number of COVID-19 related fatalities reported was 121, with 22 deaths recorded in Hà Nội.

The total number of infections since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,256,071, of which 2,014,798 are the result of the fourth wave that started in late April 2021.

Only 38 transmissions on Sunday were imported; the other 13,656 infections were local. 

A total of 8,196 new transmissions were detected in the community.

Behind Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng recorded 876 cases and Bắc Ninh recorded 803.

The remaining infections were detected in Hải Phòng (647), Phú Thọ (545), Nam Định (509), Thanh Hóa (505), Quảng Nam (480), Bình Định (360), Hưng Yên (354), Nghệ An (308), Hòa Bình (301), Hải Dương (277), Bắc Giang (269), Vĩnh Phúc (261), Thái Bình (257), Quảng Ninh (235), Bình Phước (228), Thừa Thiên-Huế (224), Ninh Bình (187), Lâm Đồng (185), Phú Yên (178), Hà Nam (157), Thái Nguyên (157), HCM City (148), Lào Cai (145), Đắk Nông (143), Quảng Bình (142), Bắc Kạn (112), Tây Ninh (106), Hà Giang (103), Sơn La (97), Quảng Trị (97), Đắk Lắk (93), Bến Tre (92), Cà Mau (92), Tuyên Quang (90), Kiên Giang (85), Quảng Ngãi (82), Yên Bái (82), Khánh Hòa (72), Bình Thuận (64), Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu (58), Vĩnh Long (55), Gia Lai (52), Hà Tĩnh (46), Bạc Liêu (44), Trà Vinh (38), Bình Dương (35), Long An (32), Tiền Giang (31), Cao Bằng (30), Hậu Giang (26), Cần Thơ (24), Lai Châu (22), Đồng Nai (22), Sóc Trăng (20), Điện Biên (17), An Giang (13), Đồng Tháp (10) and Ninh Thuận (9).

Việt Nam’s COVID death toll is now 37,668 cases, about 1.7 per cent of total infections.

There are 3,840 COVID-19 patients nationwide in serious condition, with 479 requiring invasive ventilation and 19 on life support.

A further 55,018 patients were given the all-clear, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,017,615. 

More than 74 million people in Việt Nam have now been fully inoculated; while around 79 million people have received at least one dose of vaccine. Almost 28 million people have been boosted with a third dose. — VNS
