9,531 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Saturday

The Ministry of Health announced 9,531 new COVID-19 cases in Việt Nam on Saturday, along with a further 107 deaths.

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Health announced 9,531 new COVID-19 cases in Việt Nam on Saturday, along with a further 107 deaths.

The total caseload in Việt Nam now stands at 1,084,625, of which 1,079,529 are the result of the fourth wave of infections that have swept the country since late April.

HCM City recorded the highest daily case count with 1,046, a decrease of 293 cases compared to Friday's figures, followed by Bình Dương with 669 cases and Đồng Nai with 621 cases.

There were 234 new infections found in Hà Nội.

The other cases were detected in Đồng Tháp (515), Tây Ninh (495), Bình Thuận (407), Sóc Trăng (391), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (370), Bạc Liêu (345), Cà Mau (342), An Giang (329), Vĩnh Long (297), Trà Vinh (281), Bình Phước (256), Kiên Giang (246), Tiền Giang (243), Đắk Lắk (205), Cần Thơ (201), Hậu Giang (188), Khánh Hòa (158), Bến Tre (131), Long An (112), Lâm Đồng (106), Gia Lai (103), Bắc Ninh (98), Thừa Thiên Huế (96), Đắk Nông (86), Hà Giang (84), Nam Định (68), Nghệ An (66), Bình Định (61), Thanh Hóa (58), Vĩnh Phúc (53), Thái Bình (51), Ninh Thuận (51), Bắc Giang (44), Đà Nẵng (44), Quảng Ngãi (42), Quảng Nam (40), Quảng Trị (35), Phú Thọ (33), Tuyên Quang (28), Quảng Bình (25), Hà Nam (23), Điện Biên (23), Phú Yên (20), Hải Phòng (14), Quảng Ninh (13), Hà Tĩnh (12), Hải Dương (11), Sơn La (11), Cao Bằng (10), Lạng Sơn (7), Lào Cai (6), Hưng Yên (4), Thái Nguyên (4), Hòa Bình (3), Ninh Bình (2) and Yên Bái (1).

Among Saturday's new cases, 13 were imported and the rest were local transmissions. A total of 4,776 infections were detected in the community.

The 107 COVID-related deaths were in HCM City (42), An Giang (14), Đồng Nai (7), Kiên Giang (5), Bình Thuận (4), Long An (4), Tiền Giang (4), Cần Thơ (4), Thanh Hoá (3), Tây Ninh (3), Đồng Tháp (3), Bạc Liêu (3), Vĩnh Long (3), Cà Mau (2), Ninh Thuận (2), Sóc Trăng (2), Hà Nội (1) and Trà Vinh (1).

There have been 23,685 COVID-related fatalities in Việt Nam to date, accounting for 2.2 per cent of total cases.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 4,630 patients nationwide are in a serious condition, with 451 requiring invasive ventilation and nine on life support (ECMO).

A further 16,773 patients were given the all-clear on Saturday, taking the total number of recoveries to 900,337.

More than 106 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Việt Nam. Over 40 million people are now fully inoculated. — VNS
