HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has hailed the public security force for its achievements in the past year.
Addressing the 76th national public security conference in Hà Nội yesterday, the PM said the force had played an extremely important role in maintaining political security and social order and safety, making a key contribution to the completion of objectives and tasks of socio-economic development while ensuring peaceful life for the people.
The security forces had been vital to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as in disaster prevention and rescue, he said.
PM Phúc commended the force for taking the initiative to ensure the absolute security and safety of important targets, political events, international conferences, and the activities of Party and State leaders.
The police force had deployed plans to protect Party Congresses at all levels towards the 13th National Congress of the Party.
The public security force had also taken measures to ensure national security and interests, maintain political security and prevent sabotage attempts as well as ensure the safety of cybersecurity, information and internal political security, while religious issues had been basically solved with the co-ordination with Government Committee for Religious Affairs.
In crime prevention, the PM said the effectiveness of State management in security and order had been enhanced, with efforts in the fight against corruption, black credit, drug-related crimes, online gambling crimes and trade fraud.
PM also appreciated the launch of the Public Service Portal of the Ministry of Public Security yesterday to remove problems on population management associated with the Government's project on the simplification of administrative documents.
At the event, General Tô Lâm, Minister of Public Security, said that 2021 would witness many important political events while the world and regional situation is forecast to be complex, posing difficulties, challenges and very heavy and urgent tasks for the People's Public Security Forces.
The minister suggested the heads of the police units and localities should focus on assessing, analysing and closely forecasting the development of situations to ensure national security, social order and safety, and build a strong police force to be able to complete all tasks.
At the conference, delegates assessed the security and order situation along with the performance of the public security force in 2020.
They analysed the causes behind the shortcomings and limitations of the force in the last year and outlined targets, requirements and tasks regarding the maintenance of security and order and building of the force in 2021. — VNS
