Việt Nam, Nigeria strengthen bilateral relations

HÀ NỘI — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Phạm Bình Minh on Monday held phone talks with Nigerian Minister for Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama to discuss measures to bolster bilateral ties.

Minh affirmed that Việt Nam always treasured co-operation with countries in the African Union, including Nigeria.

He spoke highly of the development of Việt Nam-Nigeria ties, suggesting the two sides spare no efforts to consolidate and deepen relations in spheres that both sides boast potential and strength.

Onyeama congratulated Việt Nam on its major achievements in industrialisation and economic development.

He also highly valued efforts and accomplishments of the Vietnamese Government in COVID-19 prevention and control, while expressing his belief that the Government and people of Việt Nam would succeed in the COVID-19 fight.

During their talks, the two sides agreed to bolster visits of high-ranking delegations and strengthen bilateral co-operation mechanisms in the coming time.

They agreed to foster economic-trade relations, particularly in trade, agriculture, manufacturing, energy, transport and information technology.

They also exchanged views on international issues of mutual concerns. — VNS
