HÀ NỘI — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the 13th National Party Congress’s sub-committee on socio-economic affairs in Hà Nội.
The function heard Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyễn Chí Dũng, head of the content drafting group, presenting the process of completing submissions and reports on the 10-year socio-economic development strategy and the five-year development orientations for 2021-2025. His report focused on reviewing outcomes achieved, strategic breakthroughs, and economic growth rate, among others.
Speaking at the event, PM Phúc stressed that amid complexities in the world and Việt Nam’s increasing global integration, there was a need to clarify the country’s growth targets.
He asked the sub-committee to clarify recent outstanding achievements of the country.
According to the latest official statistics, Việt Nam’s GDP is projected to grow by 6.9-7 per cent in 2019.
The Government leader said institutional reform was a necessary strategic breakthrough, while recommending that the content on solutions should be further improved by adding key measures.
He assigned the drafting team to take into consideration comments voiced during the meeting to complete their reports for submission to the Party Central Committee at its upcoming session.
The 13th National Party Congress is scheduled for January 2021, the year marking the 35th anniversary of the đổi mới (Reform) and the 10-year implementation of the 2011-20 socio-economic development strategy. — VNS
