HÀ NỘI — The Netherlands was an important partner of Việt Nam in Europe and the country always attached great importance to the friendship and effective multi-faceted co-operation with the European country, said Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc.
He made the statement while hosting the newly accredited Ambassador of the Netherlands to Việt Nam Elsbeth Akkerman in Hà Nội on Thursday.
While stressing the common goal of building the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, he also mentioned the strategic partnership on climate change adaptation.
The two countries had also set a target of strong growth in trade and investment co-operation, he noted.
The Government, localities and businesses of Việt Nam wanted to co-operate with businesses from the Netherlands, particularly in climate change adaptation, clean energy development, water resources management and sustainable agriculture, the Government leader said.
Ambassador Elsbeth said she hoped the two countries would take measures to lift relations between the countries to a new level.
On the same day, PM Phúc received the Governor of Chiba Prefecture of Japan Kensaku Morita.
The PM said this visit would contribute to promoting relations between the two countries as well as between Chiba and Vietnamese localities.
Governor Kensaku said Việt Nam had huge potential of high quality human resources and hoped that more Vietnamese workers would come to work in Chiba.
Receiving a delegation from the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) the same day, led by the council’s President and CEO Alexander C.Feldman, PM Phúc said the Vietnamese Government always created favourable conditions for US firms to do business in Việt Nam and was willing to listen to their suggestions to help improve the trade and investment environment in the country.
Feldman said the USABC had brought three groups of US businesses to Việt Nam this week to seek investment opportunities. — VNS
