The 15th round of the annual dialogue on human rights between Việt Nam and Australia took place in Hà Nội on August 28 in the spirit of frankness, constructiveness and mutual respect.

HÀ NỘI — The 15th round of the annual dialogue on human rights between Việt Nam and Australia took place in Hà Nội on August 28 in the spirit of frankness, constructiveness and mutual respect.

Highly valuing the development of the Việt Nam – Australia strategic partnership, they shared information on the achievements, difficulties and challenges in promoting and ensuring human rights, while discussing human rights issues of common concern and focusing on law-governed State and legal reforms to ensure basic freedoms and rights for vulnerable groups.

Both sides explored measures to reinforce collaboration within the bilateral framework and at multilateral forums

The Vietnamese delegation expressed interest in Australia’s challenges to ensure human rights such as the rights of the Aboriginal people and children, as well as the balance between security demands and anti-terrorism activities.

The two sides pledged to continue discussing issues of interest to raise mutual understanding and deepen their bilateral strategic partnership. — VNS
