HÀ NỘI – The Politburo and the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) have decided to take disciplinary action against three high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defence for their multiple wrongdoings.
The decision was made at a meeting of the two offices chaired by General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng.
The Politburo decided to dismiss Lt. Gen. Bùi Văn Thành, member of the Central Public Security Commission, Deputy Minister of Public Security directly in charge of the General Department of Logistics and Technology, former member of the Party Committee’s Standing Board and former Vice Director General of the General Department, from all his posts in the Party and to ask the Party Committee of the Government to direct the implementation of the procedures of administrative discipline against Thành and to demote him to a lower rank in accordance with the regulations.
The Politburo also decided to relieve Sen. Lt. Gen. Trần Việt Tân, former member of the Central Public Security Commission and former Deputy Minister of Public Security, from his post as member of the Central Public Security Commission in the 2011-2016 tenure and assigned the Government’s Party Civil Affairs Committee to carry out the administrative discipline process against Tân and demote him to a lower rank.
The same day, the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat decided to mete out a warning as a disciplinary measure, after considering the inspection Commission’s proposal on disciplining Sen. Lt. Gen. Phương Minh Hòa, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice Director of the General Political Department of the Vietnam People’s Army, former Secretary of the Party Committee – Political Commissar, former Vice Secretary of the Party Committee and former Commander of the Air Defence-Air Force Service. — VNS
