HÀ NỘI – Legislators gave their opinions on the contents of several draft laws during the 21th session of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee that took place in Hà Nội yesterday.

Working on the draft Denunciation Law (revised) in the morning, many expressed their concerns over the proposals for the receipt of denunciations via e-mail, fax and phone.

Vũ Hồng Thanh, head of the NA’s Economic Committee, cited a case of people using an unregistered SIM card to provide information about illegal coal exploitation, in which some information was correct and some was aimed at fooling authorized agencies.

Meanwhile, Nguyễn Khắc Định, Chairman of the NA’s Law Committee, explained that the draft law prescribes that those lodging denunciations must provide personal information such as their name, age and address for the competent agencies.

Personal information of those people should be verified before investigations into the denounced activities can commence, he said.

Concluding the debate, Vice NA Chairman Uông Chu Lưu underlined tight regulations on the reception and settlement of denunciations through e-mail, fax and phone calls.

The draft law also stipulates responsibilities of and sanctions on false denunciations or those taking the advantage of denunciations to stir public disorder.

In that spirit, the NA Standing Committee suggested approval of denunciations to be lodged and processed via e-mail, fax and phone calls and regulations on related procedures must be very tight.

The law-makers also looked into the draft law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Physical Training and Sports.

They approved the establishment of Tiền Châu and Nam Viêm wards in Phúc Yên town and Phúc Yên city in the northern province of the same name.

Vice NA Chairman Lưu called for the observance of resolutions of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s sixth plenum and the collection of public opinions on the establishment, merger, dissolution and adjustment of administrative units in line with regulations of the Law on Organisation of Local Administration. — VNS
