HÀ NỘI — US President Donald Trump will make an official visit to Việt Nam on November 11, the White House announced late on Monday.
The White House release provided additional details on Trump’s upcoming Asia trip, set to take place from November 3-14. He will visit Japan, South Korea, China, Việt Nam, the Philippines and Hawaii.
After attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Summit held in Việt Nam’s Đà Nẵng City on November 10, President Trump will fly to Hà Nội to meet with his Vietnamese counterpart Trần Đại Quang.
According to the White House, Trump is also scheduled to hold talks with other top Vietnamese leaders.
He is expected to leave for Manila on November 12.
President Trump’s visit will mark the third consecutive year Việt Nam and the US have undertaken high-level official visits to either country. Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng and Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc visited the US in 2015 and 2017 respectively, while then-President Obama came to Việt Nam last year. — VNS
