HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam is committed to creating favourable conditions for foreign businesses in the country, including those from Hong Kong, affirmed Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc.
Businesses were welcomed in the fields of infrastructure that required huge capital, including railway, road, air and waterway infrastructure, PM Phúc said while receiving a delegation from the Trade Development Council of Hong Kong, led by its Chairman Luo Kangrui, in Hà Nội yesterday.
Developing infrastructure remains a key challenge for Việt Nam, he said, adding that the country needs smart infrastructure for socio-economic development.
The Government leader welcomed the delegation to visit Việt Nam to work with ministries, localities, partners and businesses in Việt Nam to seek investment opportunities.
Việt Nam is reforming the investment and business environment and integrating into the global economy, Phúc said.
In 2016, Việt Nam rose nine positions in the business and investment environment ranking, according to the World Bank’s report, he said.
Việt Nam has attracted 23,000 foreign direct investment projects with total capital of more than US$300 billion, he added.
For his part, Chairman Luo Kangrui said the delegation’s visit was aimed at seeking investment opportunities in Việt Nam, particularly in infrastructure.
The delegation had working sessions with relevant ministries and agencies of Việt Nam and received important co-operation offers such as the north-south railway project.
He added that Hong Kong businesses wanted to take part in the Vietnamese market, which was chock full of potential. — VNS
