HÀ NỘI —  President Hồ Chí Minh is one of the great examples in the struggle against colonialism and imperialism for independence and freedom of peoples around the world, Acting General Secretary of the Communist Party of Argentina (CPA) Jorge Kneyness told a Vietnam News Agency correspondent based in Buenos Aires during a recent interview.

Throughout his revolutionary career, President Hồ Chí Minh left a comprehensive legacy of ideology, morality and lifestyle in various aspects, especially the combination of theory and practice, which still retains its value until today, Kneyness said.

Kneyness, who is also head of CPA Central Committee's external relations department, said the late President built a strong communist party in Việt Nam, stressing that under his leadership, the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) led the people to fight French colonialists and US imperialists for independence, freedom and national reunification.

"We greatly admire and respect President Hồ Chí Minh’s ideology in the cause of liberation of oppressed peoples in the third world, including military ideology," he said, elaborating that it is the result of the combination of theory and practice under certain historical conditions, and the creative absorption and application of the nation's military ideological legacy and the military quintessence of humanity.

The Vietnamese revolution is a national liberation revolution associated with an armed uprising and revolutionary war, Kneyness said.

Highly valuing President Hồ Chí Minh's foreign policy ideology, the CPA leader said that his views on diplomatic work not only have great value in history, but are also a lodestar for the national defence, construction, development and international integration of the Vietnamese people.

The legacy left by President Hồ Chí Minh has created a strong position and role in the international arena for Việt Nam today, he continued.

Carlos Aznarez, Editor-in-chief of Argentinian newspaper Resumen Latinoamericano said the testament of President Hồ Chí Minh is the essence of the ideology and morality of a great figure.

Talking to Vietnam News Agency ahead of the 55th anniversary of the death of the Vietnamese leader (September 2, 1969 - 2024) and 55 years of implementing his testament, Aznarez described President Hồ Chí Minh as an eminent soldier of the international communist and workers’ movement who connected the Vietnamese revolution with the world’s.

He noted realising that the Vietnamese revolution was part of and had close links with the proletarian revolution and the national liberation movement in colonised countries, the President advocated promoting international solidarity in the principle of equality of nations and mutually beneficial cooperation.

The Argentinian journalist hailed President Hồ Chí Minh’s devotion of his entire life to the struggle for independence and freedom for Vietnamese people.

Inheriting and building on the country’s traditional values while acquiring progressive thoughts on national independence and freedom in the world, the leader developed a system of viewpoints on national independence and freedom that reflects the inevitable law of Việt Nam’s revolution, Aznarez said, expressing his regret that President Hồ Chí Minh had passed away six years before his national reunification dream came true.

In his testament, President Hồ Chí Minh showed his iron belief in the people’s strength and great determination in winning the resistance war against the US and regaining independence and territorial integrity.

His desire expressed in the testament was fulfilled when the Paris Peace Accords were signed in January 1973 and later the General Offensive and Uprising in the 1975 Spring, with the peak being the victory of the historic Hồ Chí Minh Campaign, marking the successful conclusion of the resistance war against the US to liberate the South and reunify the country.

Aznarez held that amid extensive globalisation and international integration nowadays, PresidentHồ Chí Minh’s teachings about international solidarity remains relevant, scientific and practical.

To the Vietnamese President as well as other contemporary revolutionary leaders, solidarity was always an extremely important issue, the journalist noted, adding that the Communist Party of Việt Nam has always strived to encourage fraternal parties to support the noble spirit of international solidarity. — VNS
