The fourth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee concluded on Thursday, completing all its working programme after four days.

Việt Nam has called on countries and relevant sides to address the illicit trade in small arms and light weapons, Ambassador Đặng Đình Quý, Việt Nam’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said on Wednesday.

Discussing the results of the five-year implementation of a Resolution on enhancing Party building was high on the agenda in the third working day of the fourth plenum of the Party Central Committee in Hà Nội on Wednesday. 

Ambassador Đặng Đình Quý, Permanent Representative of Việt Nam to the United Nations, called on the international community to intensify multi-faceted assistance for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) during the UN Security Council’s meeting on the country’s situation on Tuesday (US time).

 The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) convened on Monday (local time) to review the implementation of Resolution 2118, issued in 2013, over chemical weapons in Syria.

“We believe that under the leadership of Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, Japan will continue to grow and prosper, while its people will get happier,” spokesperson for the foreign ministry Lê Thị Thu Hằng said.

Vietnamese foreign minister Bùi Thanh Sơn said growing strategic competition between major powers has left huge implications to the region, and ASEAN needs to be watchful of developments and strengthen its unity and central role.
