Artesyn Extends iHP Configurable Intelligent High Power System with New 12 kW Case

Industry's first configurable intelligent high powersystem with medical and industrial safety approvals

HONGKONG, CHINA - Media OutReach - 30 August 2018 - ArtesynEmbedded Technologies today announced an extension toits iHP seriesconfigurable intelligent high power system, with the addition of a 12 kW caseto the existing 24 kW case. The new case provides a lower cost and smaller optionfor applications needing up to 12 kW in 3 kW increments and can be configuredfor up to four outputs using a wide variety of plug-in modules addressing alarge range of voltages and currents. The lower power output enables users to configurethe iHP system for single-phase or three-phase input.

Designed for a wide range of medical and industrialapplications, this modular power system provides accuracy, resolution andstability as either a programmable voltage or current source. Safety approvalssecured by Artesyn eliminate the need for an isolation transformer in medicalequipment. The iHP power system also has industrial safety approvals and meetsthe SEMI F47 voltage sag tolerance standard for semiconductor processingequipment.

The iHP power system offers developers either ananalog or digital interface to their system, supporting standard communicationsprotocols, including CANbus, Ethernet and RS485. Digital control enables theuse of Artesyn's high level PowerPro softwaregraphical user interface (GUI) to control and monitorall functions on one or multiple iHP systems. The PowerPro GUI also incorporatesgraphical script creation that allows users to write their own process controlroutines.

The iHP power system offers efficient power factorcorrection (PFC) and low total harmonic distortion (THD) over a wide range of loads. It uses a multi-phase continuous mode boost PFC architecture, resulting inripple current cancellation that offers lower EMI and extends the life ofelectrolytic capacitors.

Users can configure the outputs as voltage orcurrent sources and customize them to their exact applications requirementsfrom a range of standard modules provided by Artesyn. These modules can beconnected in series or parallel, while achieving accurate voltage and currentsharing.  For specific types of loads andapplications, the iHP series can be programmed to three different compensationconfigurations including resistive load, capacitive load and LED load. The LEDload compensation enables applications for large horticulture farms thatrequire high voltage for series LED strings.
