HÀ NỘI — German sound artist Olaf Hochherz, together with some other members of the new generation of the local contemporary music scene, will present a special sound performance at Heritage Space on Saturday, January 12.

Named Bán Thú (Half-animals), the performance is the result of an exploration of the connections between memories, things and sound machines. It is a conjunction of a mimesis of animals and machines. It is a play with the sound of animals, called animal-voice transmissions.

Hochherz is a sound artist and researcher who performs with self-built electronic instruments and computer programmes. He develops installations and performance installations. His interest is in the conjunction of the instability, and associative capacity of sounds.

He has presented his electronic compositions at different festivals in Germany, mainland China and Taiwan. He toured with his performances throughout Central Europe and East Asia.

Alongside graduating from the Folkwang University of the Arts in electronic composition, he also studied philosophy and computer science at Humbold University Berlin, and sound-art/media-art at Bauhaus University Weimar. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts in Media-Art, and his PhD thesis is on experimental music.

His performance will start at 8pm. Entrance fee: VNĐ100,000, or 80,000 for members and students. Heritage Space is on the 1st floor, Dolphin Plaza, 26 Trần Bình Street, Mỹ Đình 2. — VNS
