HÀ NỘI — The Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (TPD) will continue its ‘Family Movie Month’ with a screening of the movie Big Fish on Friday, January 4.
Based on the 1998 novel of the same name by Daniel Wallace, Big Fish is a 2003 American fantasy comedy-drama. Director Tim Burton has brought his inimitable imagination to a heartwarming journey that delves deep into a fabled relationship between a father and his son.
Edward Bloom (Albert Finney), a former travelling salesman in the southern United States with a gift for storytelling, is now confined to his deathbed. Will (Billy Crudup), his estranged son, attempts to mend their relationship as Bloom relates tall tales of his eventful life as a young adult (portrayed by Ewan McGregor in the flashback scenes).
Big Fish was shot on location in Alabama in a series of fairy tale vignettes evoking the tone of a Southern Gothic fantasy. The film received several significant award nominations, including four Golden Globe Award nominations, seven BAFTA nominations, and an Oscar and a Grammy Award nomination for music by Danny Elfman.
The movie will be presented in original English languages with Vietnamese subtitles
The screening will start at 7.30pm. Donation (at the door): from VNĐ20,000 person. TPD is at 51 Trần Hưng Đạo Street (4th floor), Tel: (024) 39366559. — VNS
