HÀ NỘI — The Đà Nẵng-born songwriter and songstress Lê Cát Trọng Lý will introduce her latest songs during two special music nights at L’Espace on March 3 & 4.

Written in Denmark and Sweden in the summer of 2017, these songs can be considered a breakthrough in the songwriting process for Lý, with stronger traditional and classical elements than her previous songs.

These songs will be recorded in France by music producer Nguyễn Thanh Tú with the collaboration of pianist Cao Thanh Lan, clarinetist Nguyễn Minh Hoàng and a string quartet.

At the concerts at L’Espace, the songstress will be accompanied by Nguyễn Minh Hoàng on clarinet, Cao Thanh Lan on piano, Nguyễn Công Thắng and Lê Tuấn Anh on violin, Hồ Việt Khoa on alto viola, and Nguyễn Thanh Tú on cello.

Tickets cost VNĐ500,000, 400,000, and 300,000 for L’Espace members and students. Tickets are available at L’Espace. The concerts will start at 8pm.

A native of Đà Nẵng, Lý was a student of Đà Nẵng University until 2006, when she decided to give up her studies to go to HCM City and enroll in the violin department of the city’s Conservatory of Music, where she started to compose songs. In 2008, she won several prizes at the Bài Hát Việt (Vietnamese Song) programme organised by Vietnam Television, including ‘Song of the Month’ and ‘Song of the Year’ for her song Chênh Vênh, and the Promising Young Singer.

In 2009, Lý was invited by French singer Francis Cabrel to join him during his concert in Hà Nội. One year later, the then young singer was invited to perform three sold-out nights at L’Espace. She released her debut album Lê Cát Trọng Lý in January 2011. — VNS
