HCM CITY — Vietnamese at home and abroad are encouraged to participate in a photo contest capturing labourers and their life launched by the HCM City-based Người Lao Động (Labourer) newspaper.

The contest, Nét Đẹp Lao Động (The Beauty of Labour), aims to highlight farmers and workers, as well as the activities of social affairs programmes on new-style rural areas and their effects on local people.

The organiser welcomes photos on economic, social and economic achievements of remote provinces. Images of the culture and lifestyle of ethnic minority groups are also encouraged.

Both amateur and professional photographers are welcome to send their entries in two categories. The first category includes traditional methods, but photoshopped photos are not accepted, except for combining panoramic photos. The second category can accept photoshopped photos.

All entries in black and white and colour should have been taken in 2020. They can be a single photo or a group of photos with informative captions.

The contest also welcomes photos capturing HCM City's recent development. The photos should portray the solidarity, creativity and affection of the people to build their land.

The jury will select the 100 best entries for an exhibition planned to be held at the end of the year in HCM City before being moved to other big cities throughout the country.

There will be a total of eight prizes for both categories worth VNĐ80 million (US$3,700).

“From the contest’s photos, we hope to share more information about Vietnamese people, especially farmers and workers who work and build and contribute to the country's development,” said a representative of the contest’s organising board.

Each photographer can send their works in a JPEG file of at least 2Mb, or in a paper size 18x24cm before July 1 to the email netdeplaodong@gmail.com and to the organiser at 123-127 Võ Văn Tần Street, District 3, HCM City. — VNS
