HCM CITY — After a successful theatre run in Việt Nam, the film Gái Già Lắm Chiêu V – Những Cuộc Đời Vương Giả (Camellia Sisters - Living Like Royalty) will be made available globally on Netflix on June 10.

Camellia Sisters was released on March 12 this year and consistently stayed in the top two in the Vietnamese box office during its run in theatres. This is the fifth movie in the well-known series Gái Già Lắm Chiêu (The Tricky Ladies) created by director duo Bảo Nhân and Namcito, featuring actors from across the country such as Lê Khanh, Hồng Vân, Hoàng Dũng and young breakout stars Kaity Nguyễn, Khương Lê and Anh Dũng.

Since pre-production, MAR6 Pictures has aimed for worldwide distribution via platforms like Netflix.

“To share Camellia Sisters to a wider audience base across the world, we have worked with our international sales agent Skyline Media to find potential platforms. After presenting the first look of Camellia Sisters to deliver its mood and tone, the story, the production value, we are excited for the upcoming release of Camellia Sisters in 190 countries globally,” said MAR6 Pictures’ producer and director Namcito.

Camellia Sisters was made with a budget of approximately US$2 million and aims to showcase the unique cultural values of Việt Nam.

“Our two important goals are to win domestic audience acclaim and to introduce a contemporary yet culture-rich Việt Nam to global audiences. We also enhanced the drama genre and lessened comedy elements to add more depth to the story. This is the movie project I got the chance to do my best in making art!” said director Bảo Nhân.— VNS
