Lao students to join lifestyle experience

The central city has offered home-stay and culture experience programme between local residents and Lao students in Đà Nẵng this December, creating options for Lao students life experience during four-year courses at colleges.

ĐÀ NẴNG — The central city is offering a home-stay and culture experience programme between local residents and Lao students in Đà Nẵng, creating options for Lao students life experiences during four-year courses at colleges.

The city’s Laos-Việt Nam Friendship Association said residents in Ngũ Hành Sơn, Liên Chiểu, Sơn Trà and Hải Châu will reserve rooms for 100 during a two-week programme in mid of December.

It said the city and district authorities will support accommodation and living costs for Lao students studying at colleges in the city.

The programme, which began in 2011, has provided home-stay and lifestyle experience for more than 700 students to date.

Young students from Laos will enjoy living with local residents before stating a new four-year course at colleges in Đà Nẵng.

Đà Nẵng provides scholarships for 500 Lao students studying at colleges in the city per year.

Đà Nẵng had built relationships with provinces in southern Laos and signed assistance projects for provinces in Laos worth a total of US$2 million. The city signed 29 Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with cities and provinces such as Vientiane, Savannakhet, Champasak, Sekong, Salavan, Attapu, Bolikhamsay and Xaynhaburi.

Businesses from Đà Nẵng invested $52.3 million in Laos' garment, mine ore, industrial and agricultural sectors. — VNS
