HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese geologists’ memorabilia and untold stories from their field trips will be revealed at an exhibition in Hà Nội on Saturday.

Entitled Chuyện Nghề Địa Chất (The Stories about Geological Work), the exhibition will help to improve viewers’ understanding about the job of the geologists who have to constantly battle against tough working conditions in the deep forests or in oceans to draw maps, conduct research and discover natural resources for the country.

Memorabilia and memories from 22 scientists will be on display.

They have all contributed to the history of Việt Nam’s geology like professors Nguyễn Văn Chiển, Tống Duy Thanh or Nguyễn Thị Kim Thoa.

According to Associate Professor Nguyễn Văn Huy, the vice director of the Việt Nam Centre for Heritage of Sciences and Scholars, the exhibition is a new milestone in the development of the centre in promoting the heritage values of the scientists.

“By hosting the exhibition at its headquarters, the centre is expected to become a heritage space for scientists and a useful place for anyone interested in studying Vietnamese scientists,” he said.

The Stories about Geological Work will also aim to celebrate the 11th anniversary of centre’s establishment. It will be open for six months from every Monday to Saturday with free entrance.

The Việt Nam Centre for Heritage of Sciences and Scholars is located at No 561, Lạc Long Quân Street, Hà Nội. — VNS
