HÀ NỘI – A national festival will be held to honour the best environmental films in Hà Nội.
The festival is held every three years by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources; Việt Nam Cinematography Association and Việt Nam National Television .
“The festival will honour filmmakers who have made environment-themed films,” said Vũ Minh Lý, deputy-head of the ministry’s Environment and Natural Resources Communication Centre.
“The cinematographic and television works with valuable content that raise awareness about environmental protection will be honoured at the festival.”
Organisations and individuals across the country are invited to attend the festival with works produced between January 1, 2016 to October 15, 2019.
There are four categories including documentary, science, reportage and cartoons. One first prize, one second prize and two third prizes will be awarded in each category.
There are two rounds with different judge panels. The final panel will be film and television directors; writers; journalists and environmental scientists.
Attending and speaking at the press conference held in Hà Nội yesterday, script writer Nguyễn Thị Hồng Ngát, standing deputy-president of the cinematography association is honoured to have attended the festival since the first time in 1988.
“I always believe in young people because they are fresh in making films and their views of environmental issues are different. So we hope to have excellent and impressive works that will convey the message of environmental protection.”
This is the 7th national environmental film festival to be held. Through the six festivals, nearly 600 films have participated with 146 award-winning films.
The award ceremony will be held at the end of this year. VNS
