HÀ NỘI — A painting exhibition by Vietnamese and South Korean women opens today in Hà Nội, featuring the natural landscape of the two countries.
Văn Dương Thành and Julia Oh display their latest artworks at the exhibition Vision in Harmony. The paintings express the nature of the two countries through different styles.
The oil-on-canvas and acrylic paintings are multicoloured and show the creativity of the two countries’ fine art scenes.
"We hope this exhibition will spread to the people of the two countries who are not only art lovers but also diplomatic officers, intellectuals and Korean businesspeople in Việt Nam," said artist Thành.
Thành divides her time between Sweden, where she teaches art, and Hà Nội. Her work first appeared at the Việt Nam Museum of Fine Arts when she was 20. Many of her artworks are on permanent display at the museum and in countries including Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Spain and Sweden.
Oh who paints in the impressionism style said that she was lucky to get to know Thành when she read about her in a Korean newspaper in 2017. She came to Việt Nam and learnt to paint from Thành.
"I hope that my paintings can reappear and make you feel miracle beauty of Mother Nature," said Oh. "I’m not expecting much, just want dear friends to be joyful when they watch my paintings."
The exhibition will run till January 26 at Korean Cultural Centre, 49 Nguyễn Du Street, Hà Nội. — VNS
