HÀ NỘI — Top Vietnamese tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam was defeated in the quarter-finals of the Sweden F5 Futures tennis tournament on Thursday.
Nam, ranked 503 in the world, lost to top seed Emil Ruusuvuori of Finland, ranked 352, 0-2 (6-7, 3-6).
Nam beat Michal Konecny of Czech Republic in the second round (7-6, 6-2) and Carl Gustafsson of the host nation in the first round (6-3, 6-2).
Following the event, which has prize money totaling US$25,000, Nam will return home to compete in the Việt Nam F4 Futures - Hải Đăng Cup from October 22 to 28 and the Việt Nam F5 Futures from October 29 to November 4. — VNS
