HÀ NỘI — Heritage Space will present a musical night called Đàn Tranh - Cello Improvisation: When East Meets West on Sunday.
Taking place from 8.15pm until 9.30pm, the night will feature Huế-based artisan Vĩnh Tuấn, aka Master Duyệt Thị Trang, and American cellist Bryan Charles Wilson.
The concert focuses on the improvisation between the Vietnamese zither, đàn tranh and the Western classical, violoncello. The đàn tranh and violoncello are two instruments that historically have had little interaction with one another.

Thousands of miles and hundreds of years separated these two instruments. When Vietnamese master of the đàn tranh, Master Duyệt Thị Trang, and American cellist Wilson, first collaborated, the magic between these instruments was apparent. Instead of relying upon the repertoire from their individual canons, they meet in the middle with improvisation.
The performance will have two special guests – Ly Phan and Eliott Malderez.
The concert will take place at Heritage Space Library, Floor 1, Dolphin Plaza, 28 Trần Bình Street, Mỹ Đình 2, Nam Từ Liêm District. Admission prices range from VNĐ100,000 to 200,000. This is a non-profit event, all income will cover costs for artists and production.
