HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội administrators are working on a project to build a cultural space on Đinh Lễ Street within the pedestrian area around the city’s Hoàn Kiếm (Returned Sword) Lake.

The space is expected to open to the public early next year.

In an interview with Tuổi Trẻ (Youth) newspaper, Đinh Hồng Phong, vice chairman of Hoàn Kiếm District’s People’s Committee, revealed that the cultural space would include bookstores, a public space for reading, cafés and events such as book launches.

“We won’t call it a book street, which might be mistaken for Hà Nội’s existing book street on 19-12 Street. It will simply be a cultural space,” he said.

He added that Hoàn Kiếm District also plans to prohibit citizens from walking dogs there, in addition to expanding the pedestrian zone in the upcoming months. — VNS
