HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese diva Mỹ Linh is set to embark on her first concert tour, 12 years after her Mỹ Linh Tour 06 in 2006.

Entitled Mỹ Linh Tour2018: Time, the event will mark her 20-year career and celebrate the bond between the singer and her team, including music producer and songwriter Huy Tuấn, stage director and cinematographer Phạm Hoàng Nam and music band Anh Em (Brothers), headed by her husband, the music producer and songwriter Anh Quân.

Although Linh started her singing career when she was teenager, she has enjoyed the sweetness of success since she met and began cooperating with the duo Anh Quân and Huy Tuấn and their band Anh Em in 1997. Quân and Linh married in 1998.

In a press conference about the concert tour, the diva said that she wants to invite her fans to join her in a trip back to the past, when she rose to fame with hits such as Tóc Ngắn (Short Hair), Thì Thầm Mùa Xuân (The Whisper of Spring), Trưa Vắng (Quiet Afternoon) and Hương Ngọc Lan (The Scent of White Sandalwood Flower).

“All the success that I’ve harvested over the past two decades is thanks to the significant contribution of the band Anh Em. Except my husband Quân, all the other band members are my best friends, who I regard as my family members,” Linh said.

It can be said that the band Anh Em has developed a suitable style for Linh to gain success with best-selling albums and hits. At that time, they have contributed significantly to creating a fresh style for Vietnamese pop music.

She also stressed that the tour is not only to mark a milestone, but also to look back and then continue walking because “time is a journey. Time can pass by but whatever we trust in and pursue, it will always be the same.”

Alongside her hits, the tour’s repertoire will also include songs from her latest album Chat with Mozart Vol II, released in January.

According to the tour’s music director Quân, the repertoire will showcase the diva’s best work.

Joining diva Linh during the concert tour will be young singer Bùi Anh Tuấn, who has shone since he competed at The Voice 2012, and rapper Hà Lê, who earlier joined the diva on her newest album.

The repertoire of the Mỹ Linh Tour2018: Time will also include the performance of a wind orchestra gathering the best young musicians from the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston, the United States.

Other special guests include Linh’s daughter Mỹ Anh and Việt Nam’s best soprano Hà Phạm Thăng Long.

While the 16-year-old Anh performed a song with her mother on the album Chat with Mozart Vol II, the 43-year-old soprano Long has never teamed up with the diva, so “audiences can expect an interesting duet performance of these two ‘powerful’ women,” according to music producer Tuấn.

The concert tour will start in Hà Nội’s Friendship Palace on August 11-12, followed by a show at Đà Nẵng’s Trưng Vương Theatre on August 15 before wrapping up in HCM City’s Hòa Bình Theatre on August 18.  VNS
