HÀ NỘI — A night of flamenco dance and music will enchant audiences at the Việt Nam National Accademy of Music’s Great Hall today.

The performance will feature Spanish artists including dancer Ursula Lopez, guitarist Javier Patino, percussionist Dominguez Soto and singer Gema Caballero.

The Small Things is the fourth and latest dance choreographed by Lopez, with the experienced dancer aiming to show audiences the little details of flamenco dancing.

The dance will feature flamenco and live music played by guitarist Patino, percussionist Dominguez Soto and the voice of Caballero. The show combines the impeccable technique of each artist during a 75-minute show.

Lopez was born in the town of Montilla and began her performance training at a young age, graduating in classical Spanish dance and ballet before travelling to Seville to study flamenco with great masters such as Manolo Marín. She participates as a soloist in performances and has travelled around the world to perform at festivals and theatres.

Lopez was a hit at Seville´s Flamenco Biennial in 2004 with the works of Don Juan Flamenco and Asimetrias. She became a guest artist of the Ballet National De Espana from 2004-06. In 2007, she started her own company and released her first work Abriendo Camino for the Flamenco Festival of Jerez where she received the Audience Award in 2010.

She performed Abriendo Camino at Hà Nội Opera House in 2013. Directed and choreographed by herself, the dance was a turning point from what she has done before as a soloist, to a new role as a choreographer of her own company.

Patino studied guitar at the age of 11 directed by virtuosi Jose Louis Balao and Manuel El Carbonero. As a soloist he has taken part in many prestigious events such as the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla and the Festival de Jerez.

Caballero has won awards in different competitions and had a scholarship to study at the Cristina Hereen Foundation in Seville. She is also a musical director and singer of the show Ground Zero. After a long period mostly devoted to direction, the singer recently returned to the stage with the Lo Traigo Andao show.

The show is being held by the Spanish Embassy to Hà Nội to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Việt Nam and Spain.
