HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese singer Noo Phước Thịnh has officially been appointed as Japan’s Tourism Ambassador by the Japan Tourism Organisation in Việt Nam (JNTO).
This is the first time JNTO has chosen a Vietnamese singer for this position.
The 29-year-old singer expressed his delight at the new role and promised to try his best to carry it out.
Thịnh has recorded music videos in many locations in Japan over the past three years, including Kansai-Osaka in 2014, Chubu–Ishikawa in 2015 and Kyushu in 2016. The videos have received over 72 million views on Youtube.
Thịnh will join in the campaigns to promote Japan tourism and cooperate to develop Japanese tourism via social networks.
In 2016, the number of international visitors to Japan reached 24 million, 200,000 of them Vietnamese.
According to Takahashi Ayumi, head of JNTO, Japan has conducted many campaigns to promote tourism, aiming to reach its target of 40 million international visitors by 2020. — VNS
