HỘI AN —Thanh Hà Terracotta Park in Hoi An will introduce a statue garden to create more art space on April 30th.
The park’s managing director Huỳnh Ngọc Uyên Phi told Việt Nam News that the garden will display terracotta statues of 20 people who made great contributions to Hội An’s the UNESCO-recognised heritage.
She said a statue of Polish archaeologist and architect Kazimierz Kwiatkowski, known as ‘Kazik’, who made endless efforts to restore Hội An, Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary and the Complex of Huế Monuments, will be in the garden along with music composer Trịnh Công Sơn and retired party secretary of Hội An city, Nguyễn Sự.
A painting exhibition on the beauty of Hội An’s people and land will also be displayed at the park on April 27-30.
Additionally, some 50 paintings collected from a workshop of artists from HCM City and southern Đồng Tháp Province will go on display at the exhibition,
Also in on the fun, Đà Nẵng City’s Fine Arts Museum will host an exhibition of 70 paintings of artists from the city and Quảng Nam Province at 78 Lê Duẩn Street from April 28th to May 8th.
The museum also has a permanent display of 413 works by artists in the city and from provinces in the region.
An exhibition of antiquities collections will be opened at Đà Nẵng’s Museum at 24 Trần Phú Street between April 28th and May 10th.
About 60 artefacts including bronze sculpture censers and ceramic pots during the Nguyễn Dynasty, Chu Đậu ceramic collection (16-17th century), and a stone carved painting of China from 19th century will be displayed
Đà Nẵng’s Museum also has a collection of 11 ancient cast-iron cannons (made during the Nguyễn Dynasty, between 1802-60) that were unearthed at Điện Hải Citadel. — VNS
