ĐÀ LẠT— Two music concerts featuring Việt kiều (overseas Vietnamese) will be held in Đà Lạt to usher in the New Year.

The event, Vòng Tay Nhân Á i- Hoa Xuân Ca (Compassionate Hands - Spring Melody), features Vietnamese-American singers Elvis Phương, Lê Uyên, Quang Thành and Kim Anh, who are well-known in the contemporary music scene.

Khánh Ly, 70, recently staged her first live show called Khánh Ly – Live Concert in Saigon in HCM City’s 7th Military Zone Gymnasium after leaving the country to settle in the US 41 years ago.

Ly and her colleagues have finished their Viet Nam tour performing for charity.

The musicians at the concerts in Da Lat will perform songs in praise of love, life and spring by famous composers, including Trịng Công Sơn, Phạm Duy, Lam Phương, Vũ Thành An and Nguyễn Ánh 9.

The show will take place at 8pm on December 31 at the Ngọc Lan Hotel in Nguyễn Chí Thanh Street.

Vietnamese-American singers Giao Linh and Phương Dung, and Vietnamese-French singer Họa Mi will perform in a concert called Tuyệt Phẩm Nhạc Tình - Đêm Tình Hồng (Best Love Songs- Night of Love).

The veteran singers will sing love songs by composers such as Hoàng Thi Thơ and Y Vân that shot them to fame in the 1960s and 1970s.

“I moved to Việt Nam in 1988, but my love for music is still here,” said the 61-year-old Mi, who staged a solo performance in HCM City last year after 27 years of living away from her native land.

At the concert, Mi will perform several songs in both Vietnamese and French, which made her famous worldwide.

The show will open at 8pm on New Year’s Eve at the Edensse Resort & Spa in Tuyền Lâm Park.— VNS
