HÀ NỘI – Movie-lovers in Hà Nội will have the opportunity to watch the best short films by young Vietnamese filmmakers at the annual short film festival We Are Filmmakers (WAFM) that runs until Sunday.

The festival will screen the best short films from projects and classes of students from the Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents.

The films will be screened at the Việt Nam Cinema Association located at 51 Trần Hưng Đạo Street in Hà Nội.

The films feature different themes including love and friendship and family are in their original languages with English subtitles.

The Centre’s Deputy Director Bùi Thạc Chuyên said that the event aims to introduce the best short films and encourage and honour the young talents.

“This is a non –profit activity to raise funds for movies, serve the next film projects and create a bridge between young filmmakers and film lovers,” he said.

Besides films made by young Vietnamese filmmakers, the festival will also feature some films by well-known Vietnamese independent filmmakers including Phan Đăng Di and Nguyễn Hoàng Điệp.

This is the second edition of the WAFM Film fest, with the first held in the capital late last year.

The screenings are free but a donation of VNĐ20.000 (US$0.8) per person per session is advised to audiences coming to watch the film, as a way to help to maintain the activities of the centre.

The Centre for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents was established to implement programmes to develop movie talents and Vietnamese cinema.
