HÀ NỘI — The show titled Thời Khắc (The Moment) is now out.
Performed by the Hà Nội Drama Theatre, The Moment is a combination of different genres of arts and technology on stage and surrounding space.
It is designed in accordance with Action Program No. 08-CTr/TU of the Hà Nội Party Committee regarding the implementation of Politburo's Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW on the development of Vietnamese culture and the directives of the local Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
It is part of the festivities that celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the capital city's liberation on October 10, marking the return of the Công Nhân Theatre after months of renovations and facility upgrades.
Under the direction of People's Artist Trung Hiếu, director of the Hà Nội Drama Theatre, The Moment was developed to bridge history, culture, theatrical art, and technology, featuring an exhibition space, interactive experiences, a special screening room, and stage performances.
“The Moment is grounded in culture, history, and art. It utilises technology as a medium and places the audience at the centre. We hope that through the stories shared on stage today, each of us will come to cherish the value of peace, take greater pride in our national history, and gain renewed faith in the power of innovation to preserve values and honor memories. Together, we will create new values and forge our own beautiful, memorable moments,” said Hiếu.

“Some moments simply passed but some others have become memory of the entire nation and people. Our The Moment is divided into three parts. Lưu means preserving memories; Khắc means etching the legacy of our ancestors; and Vang is to spread and pass on those values to future generations.”
At the theatre, audiences will be told stories about heritage sites, prominent figures and historical milestones through images, documents, and artifacts, alongside interactive activities. AI technology is employed in the screening room and on stage to help recreate archival materials and imagery, as well as to expand storytelling methods.
The screening room presents the history of the Hà Nội Drama Theatre and its notable productions.
The highlights of The Moment are two works Huyền tích Hồ Gươm (The Legend of Sword Lake) and Tôi và Chúng Ta (I and We).
The first one is the story about the Lam Sơn Uprising led by the national hero Lê Lợi and the name of the legendary Hoàn Kiếm (Returning the Sword) Lake in the heart of Hà Nội.

Faced with a country trampled by foreign invaders, Lê Lợi raised the banner of revolt and rallied many talented figures, most notably Nguyễn Trãi, one of Việt Nam's most celebrated national heroes, military strategists, and world cultural figures. The uprising ended in victory; Lê Lợi ascended the throne and returned the precious sword to the Divine Turtle.
A distinctive feature of the work is the fusion of theatrical art with AI technology, evoking the historical and cultural values associated with Hoàn Kiếm Lake and the nation's aspiration for peace.
The second one is a famous work by acclaimed playwriter Lưu Quang Vũ. It will bring audiences to a factory back to 1980s, witnessing the fight between conservative thinking and the aspiration for innovation. Despite more than 40 years, the drama still raises issues of significance to contemporary life, ranging from the need to innovate thinking and foster individual capabilities to the relationship between the individual and the collective.
I and We is also a debut programme of the Việt Theatre Project, a cooperation between the Hà Nội Drama Theatre and Việt Nam Television to digitalise, preserving and promoting classic Vietnamese theatrical works among the public.
It will be broadcast live on VTVgo, the national digital television platform and online streaming service on October 10. — VNS
