HÀ NỘI — Leading firms from Thailand are showcasing their products and services to local customers at the Top Thai Brands 2020, which began in the capital on Thursday.
The four-day event is hosted by the Department of International Trade Promotion under the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, Office of Commercial Affairs under the Royal Thai Embassy in Hà Nội, in co-operation with Việt Nam National Trade Fair and Advertising and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Việt Nam.
At the Hà Nội International Exhibition Centre (I.C.E), some 75 booths are displaying and selling a number of categories of quality products from Thailand, including food and beverages, fresh fruits, household products, textiles and garments, jewellery, health and beauty products, decorative Items and souvenirs.
There will also be special activities of Thai food tasting prepared by Thai Select restaurants in Việt Nam and Thai dancing performance.
Top Thai Brands 2020 is expected to reboot the business connection between Vietnamese importers, agents and Thai exporters, contributing partly to trade relations between Việt Nam and Thailand and strengthening the trade co-operation within ASEAN countries in the post-COVID-19 pandemic, Thai Trade Counsellor to Việt Nam Pannakarn Jiamsuchon told Việt Nam News.
In his speech at the event’s opening ceremony, Thai Ambassador to Việt Nam Tanee Sangrat spoke highly of bilateral relations in many fields between the two countries.
Tanee Sangrat described the Top Thai Brands 2020 as a good opportunity for Vietnamese customers to get access to many of Thailand’s quality goods, creating a platform for both Vietnamese and Thai enterprises to enlarge their networks and further develop strategic partnerships.
Trade turnover between Thailand and Việt Nam reached more than US$17 billion in 2019. Thailand was Việt Nam's largest trading partner in ASEAN and Việt Nam was also Thailand's most important investor with a total investment of $2.3 billion, said Tanee Sangrat. — VNS
