HCM CITY — Besides collaborating with a number of brands to offer discounts on many products to help sell them and to reduce spending pressure on consumers after the Covid-19 outbreak, Saigon Co.op is also undertaking many activities to promote consumption of environment-friendly products.

The activities began with a “Milk cartons recycling day” at Co.opmart Huỳnh Tấn Phát in HCM City’s District 7 last week.

For this, Saigon Co.op collaborated with Nestlé’s Milo brand to collect milk cartons and offer customers gifts in return to propagate knowledge of waste classification at source and raise awareness of environmental protection in the community.

This activity will take place at hundreds of Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets nation-wide.

The collected milk cartons will be shipped to R&W Company for treatment.

Besides, from now until the end of June Saigon Co.op’s retail systems, including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, and Co.op Smile, are offering discounts of up to 50 per cent on more than 10,000 environment-friendly products and more than 100,000 coupons to customers who buy products made by environment-friendly businesses, and slashing prices on many essential products by more than 50 per cent during weekends as part of its “Green consumption month.”

A fruit festival is also being held with discounts on more than 20 varieties of tropical fruits to support Vietnamese agricultural products. There is also a programme called "Support Vietnamese agricultural products" under which consumers can order home delivery of fresh lychees and ST Xuân Hồng rice on the MoMo e-wallet at reduced prices.

The total volume of goods participating in this stimulus campaign is estimated at 30,000 tonnes. — VNS
