HÀ NỘI — PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling) will provide Heavy Tender Assist Semi-Submersible Drilling Unit “PV DRILLING V” for Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP).

According to a contract signed on September 24, PV Drilling will provide the tender assist semi-submersible drilling rig (TAD) for BSP’s deepwater drilling project in Brunei.

This is also PV’s longest-term drilling contract and will develop business and ensure revenue next, the company reported on its website.

This contract is part of PV Drilling's plan seeking business opportunities in foreign markets.

The PV DRILLING V, the 8th TAD in the world, is the latest generation of its kind with advanced technology. It also has the first design with high-tech applications that helps the rig work on high-pressure and high-temperature wells (HPHT) at pressure up to about 1020 atm.

The rig was completed in 2011 and served for the drilling campaign of the Biển Đông Petroleum Operating Company (Biển Đông POC) at Hải Thạch – Mộc Tinh field in early 2012 with a total of 16 wells in deep water in extremely complicated and difficultly geological conditions.

However, PV DRILLING V managed to complete the project prematurely, helping Biển Đông POC save time and operation costs. — VNS
