VinFast joins ride-hailing market

Vietnamese automaker VinFast – a subsidiary of Vingroup – and FastGo Viet Nam Joint Stock Company signed an agreement on Thursday in Hà Nội to provide 1,500 Fadil cars for FastGo’s ride-hailing service.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese automaker VinFast – a subsidiary of Vingroup – and FastGo Viet Nam Joint Stock Company signed an agreement on Thursday in Hà Nội to provide 1,500 Fadil cars for FastGo’s ride-hailing service.

The agreement aimed to build high-end transport services based on the application of technology and the strengths of both parties.

In the first phase, 1,500 of the automobiles will be provided to FastGo drivers through buying or renting at preferential prices. In the second phase, the two sides will begin to use the higher-end Lux model for luxury transport services.

FastGo drivers can also receive rewards from VinFast and FastGo to pick up passengers at Vingroup facilities attractive discounts with a revenue commitment of up to VNĐ25 million (US$1,076) per month.

Passengers using FastGo’s services in VinFast cars will benefit from preferential prices when booking rides to Vinhomes urban areas, Vinpearl resorts and Vincom commercial centres.

FastGo will provide the service in Hà Nội, HCM City and Đà Nẵng, then expand to other localities.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vingroup’s deputy general director Võ Quang Huệ said VinFast expected the agreement to allow its cars to serve Vietnamese people more widely.

“We committed to bringing attractive incentives to partners and quality to passengers,” he said.

Nguyễn Hữu Tuất, founder and chairman of FastGo, said this was the first such deal in the world between an automaker and a start-up to open a direct distribution channel to customers.

“The co-operation with Vingroup will help FastGo differentiate itself in the ride-hailing market as well as provide the best experience in Fadil cars to passengers," he said.

FastGo plans to upgrade its ride-hailing app to offer more functions. Passengers will be able to book a Fadil car within 15 seconds. — VNS
