HÒA BÌNH — A tangerine variety grown in Nam Sơn Commune, Tân Lạc District in the northwestern province of Hòa Bình has been granted a collective trademark.

A ceremony to receive the title was held in the commune on Monday.

The district has recorded positive economic growth over the years, with agricultural production accounting for 33.7 per cent. The district has worked to bolster spearhead products by developing brands for local farm produce, including Tân Lạc chayote, red pomelo and tangerine.

The commune is home to more than 80ha of tangerine trees, of which 20ha has been harvested.

Đinh Công Sứ, chairman of the People’s Committee of Tân Lạc District, said that it would further promote the tangerine trademark in the locality and build display spaces for tangerines and other local produce, along with raising the quality of Nam Sơn tangerines in particular and citrus from mountainous regions in general. — VNS
